PPD Wellness Program

The Pasadena Police Department's Wellness Program is dedicated to the holistic well-being of its officers and employees. Established in June 2021, the program emerged from the recognition of the critical need to address mental health challenges faced by law enforcement personnel.

A key initiative of the Wellness Program is the Employee Wellness Unit, which organizes events such as the Family Wellness Day. This event, attended by over 200 department employees and their families, was designed to foster community, provide resources, and emphasize the importance of employee wellness. The event is crucial for assessing and enhancing the overall health of the department's workforce.

The Employee Wellness Unit's mission extends beyond just organizing events. It offers access to culturally competent mental health professionals and a range of services aimed at supporting officers through trauma and stress. Recognizing that police officers often face significant psychological challenges due to the nature of their work, the unit works to ensure they have the support needed to maintain their well-being.

The Wellness Program not only supports officers, but also includes community outreach through the Trauma Response Unified Support Team (TRUST), which assists families affected by traumatic incidents.

In addition to individual support, the Wellness Program is working on developing a wellness mobile app to promote healthy habits among officers. Through events like Family Wellness Day, the program fosters a sense of community and provides valuable resources, including health, financial, and dental services, to ensure the well-being of both police personnel and their families.
